Questions
What is EXIF data?
EXIF is information a camera or phone stores inside a photo: the date and time, camera model and settings, and often the exact GPS location where the photo was taken. Anyone who gets the original file can read it.
How do I remove the location from a photo?
Drop the photo onto the screen above and download the clean copy. The GPS coordinates and all other EXIF data are removed, and nothing else in the picture changes.
Does removing EXIF reduce photo quality?
Not here. Most tools re-save the picture, which compresses it again. This one only cuts out the metadata blocks and copies the image data as it is, so the picture is byte-for-byte the same.
Will my photos turn sideways?
No. Phones often store a photo sideways and use EXIF to say which way is up. This tool keeps that single orientation setting so your photos stay upright, and removes everything else.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser. That matters here: uploading a photo to remove its location would give its location to whoever runs the server.
Do social networks remove EXIF data?
Most large networks strip it from public images, but email, messaging apps sending files as documents, cloud links, forums and marketplaces often keep it. Removing it yourself is the only way to be sure.
